James Hollingsworth

James Hollingsworth is a Country singer/Songwriter born in Waco, Tx and raised in West,Tx. Raised on a farm by his great grandparents, and taught how to be an adult by a generation long gone. Playing in the dirt outside of honkytonks and dance halls and growing into a patron of the same. James picked up singing and guitar playing to fill a void left by older local artists that passed on. With a southern blend of Rock, Blues, Folk, country, soul, and western, he travels with his 4 piece band to entertain wherever people allow him in Texas. Writing lyrics and melodies that continually leave patrons remembering the words spoken more than they remember his own name.

"Upon My Brim" was written from where I like to spend time with family and listening to local acts. At a nearby bar I did not usually frequent I witnessed a scene of a beautiful woman entering to a room full of people all vying for her attention. Seeing how loved she was I couldn’t help but notice a young man idly sitting in the corner. After watching him not join the rest of the room in their cheer, and seeing the disappointment on the man’s face when the woman left, I had noted how the only rise to be seen out of the young man were the large plumes of smoke he made. As if to catch her attention. On the way home I crafted the lyrics for "UPON MY BRIM", a story of a daydream love full of excitement and life, then turned to disappointment and failure. Summarizing that the only true threat anybody has to their own happiness is themselves- James Hollingsworth
